A three-movement Sonata in the style of Corelli, this piece is designed to introduce young players to Baroque style. The Sonata can be played in first position, but other fingerings are possible, and young players should be encouraged to add decorations. The music is based on the technique of partimento, which was the method by which Baroque musicians were taught harmony, improvisation and composition. A cello could be added to the bass part of the keyboard score as a continuo. The Sonata is suitable for students early in Colourstrings Book E.
